I know.
This feels like a kooky year already, with interesting nominations (even the bad ones) all around.
And I'm estatic about Melissa McCarthy getting nominated when Oscar easily could have passed her by. Also, this might be the very first year where only two nominees are in a single category; Best Song.
Was that a shout of joy, or horror?
It's gonna be an interesting Oscar contest... I think most of the winners are pre-ordained, but at least some very good films will be resurrected and discussed for the next few weeks. Any early favorites? I mean, ones you would be happy to see win, even if you don't predict that they will...
Of joy. Such joy. I am in full support of all the nominations for Extremely Loud, Tinker Tailor, Midnight in Paris, Ides of March (tho' I wish that had gotten more -- than just the one, I mean). The one nomination that makes this year a great success is Gary Oldman for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. That alone has satisfied me.
Brandon: There were a few times when Adapted Score was around, and when Makeup first started. You can never trust the music branch, and new categories are scary.
