1993 Retro Hollmann Awards: The Eligibility

That's a wrap!

After many, many months, I can finally breathe a sigh of relief and close the book on 1993. Did I miss some movies? Of course I did -- Cliffhanger, Wittgenstein, The Crush and A Bronx Tale are a few never-seens that will remain so. Meanwhile, it's been so long since I've seen Swing Kids, Army of Darkness, Mad Dog and Glory and Tombstone, that I feel it isn't right to include them -- my memory of them is less than sketchy.

And that's OK. You know what didn't qualify for my 2012 Hollmann Awards? Amour. It happens. We see what we see when we can see it. And while I could probably try stretching it a little more...it's time. I loved my time in 1993, but like Vianne, I must follow the changing wind...

(And sure, that's a reference to the year 2000, but we clearly have a Tralfamadorian sense of time here)

The Retro Hollmann Awards will be given out Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Tomorrow, the longlists of semi-finalists in each category.
